ITS MALAYSIA.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by civil servants, such as the police, army, and firefighters, in safeguarding the nation from various disasters. Anwar emphasized that these individuals have not only risked their lives but also undergone extensive training to ensure the safety and security of the country.
During our hectic lives, it is easy to overlook that civil servants are responsible for maintaining our country’s safety.
Firefighters, who risk their lives to protect people from fires, rescue victims during natural disasters, and save animals, play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the community.
During his address at the National World Firefighter Day 2024 event in Tambun Square, he mentioned that it has been 12 years since the salary scheme was last evaluated. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of civil servants and suggested a review of their salaries and allowances at this time.
Anwar emphasized that the government will devise a suitable approach to implement the plan, and he urged that the salary increase should not be a matter of contention, despite potential doubts arising from the current economic circumstances. It is important to note that both the government and Anwar as the prime minister have inherited this situation.
Servant Sacrifices.
An announcement was made on May 1 by Anwar, revealing the government’s plan to significantly increase the salaries of civil servants in the coming year. This decision aims to set new benchmarks for remuneration within the public sector.
However, it is important to note that this move is expected to result in an additional RM10 billion in taxpayer spending, which will be added to the already existing expenses related to emoluments.
Anwar has introduced a new “human resource framework” that will implement the planned salary increment, raising the minimum pay for all public sector workers to RM2,000, among other initiatives.
Despite the current maximum increment rate being at 13 percent, the prime minister has assured that the new increment will exceed this percentage significantly.
As of now, the minimum income, which includes both salary and fixed allowances, totals RM1,795 per month.
Anwar has made a firm promise to raise wages to address the burden of living expenses since he took office in 2022. Under his leadership, the government has effectively managed to stabilize inflation, which had reached its highest point in the same year.
Why do you want to Increase Salary?
Anwar emphasized the significance of increasing salaries for civil servants, stating that it is a fair recognition of their hard work and dedication. This measure is intended to strengthen their commitment to their responsibilities and promote a culture of discipline within the workforce.
Today’s event was attended by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, and Fire and Rescue Department’s director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad.
The presence of these distinguished individuals added significance to the event.
