A 23-year-old girl caught the attention of Internet users in the Republic when she fell in love with a man 57 years older than her and protests from her family could not stop her from marrying him.
They met at an old age home where Xiaofang was working as a volunteer.

According to Sohu, the marriage went viral on Chinese social media, and the woman, Xiaofang, fell in love with Li, 80, after they met at a retirement home where Li lived.
While volunteering there, Xiaofang became close to Li after discovering that they had the same interests and hobbies.
They grew even closer over time. Xiaofang said she was attracted to Li’s maturity, stability and wisdom. Li, in turn, was attracted to Xiaofang’s youth and kindness.
Girl’s Family Protested
However, Xiaofang’s family was against this relationship due to the huge age difference and even thought that Li was taking advantage of Xiaofang.
After careful consideration, Xiaofang decided to follow her heart, married Li and broke off her relationship with her family.

Xiaofang emphasised that as long as Li is there, she will be able to bravely face challenges even without her family.
The couple held a simple wedding in Hebei province and exchanged vows to love each other forever.
