GEORGE TOWN: A student from a private higher education institution (IPTS) died after falling from the 21st floor of a hotel in Tanjung Bungah, near here, on Wednesday.
Penang Police Chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the police received the report around 3:35 PM. It found that the 24-year-old female student had already died from severe injuries all over her body, as reported by Sinar Harian.
“The victim had just checked into the hotel with her 24-year-old boyfriend yesterday.”
“However, she was found by the public lying face down in a pool of blood on the ground floor of the hotel,” he said at a press conference at the Penang Police Contingent Headquarters here on Thursday.
Hamzah added that the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s boyfriend only became aware of the incident after seeing the public crowding around the victim on the ground floor of the hotel.
“We are currently investigating the victim’s boyfriend, who is also a student at the same university, to assist in the investigation.
“So far, we have classified this case as sudden death (SDR),” he said.
