Malaysian Couple Charged with Weapon Supply to Israeli National

In a shocking turn of events, a Malaysian woman and her husband have been charged with supplying weapons to an Israeli national. The duo has been charged under Sections 8 and 9 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act. These charges were presented at the Sessions Court before Judge Sharifah Hascindie Syed Omar.

The Charges:

The 41-year-old, Sharifah Faraha Syed Husin is charged under Section 8 of the Act, while her husband Abdul Azim Mohd Yasin, 43, faces charges under Section 9. While, the woman is charged with possession of a Luger pistol CZ 75 P-01 CAL.9, bearing the serial number A216210, her husband is accused of complicity, having knowledge of his wife’s possession of the weapon.

Trial and Consequences:

Both the defendants have pleaded not guilty. However, if found guilty, they face jail time for up to 14 years and a whipping sentence of not less than six times. The prosecution is lead by Deputy public prosecutors Mohammad Fakhrurrazi Ahmad Salim and Fazeedah Faik.

The Offence Location and Arrest:

The alleged offence took place at a residence on Jalan Haji Omar, Kampung Bukit Belimbing, Kuala Selangor, around 8 pm on March 29. The couple was arrested by the police on the same day at a Ramadan bazaar, in Kuala Selangor.

Context and Previous Incidents:

The case gained traction following the arrest of Israeli national Shalom Avitan on March 27 at a hotel in Ampang. Avita, who entered the country using a french passport, was discovered in possession of a mini arsenal comprising six guns and 200 bullets. According to reports, Sharifah Faraha and Abdul Azim were suspected of supplying weapons to Avitan. However, soon after detention, Avitan surrendered himself. Avitan’s inventory included firearms such as a Sig Sauer, two Glocks, and a Smith & Wesson.

Allegations and Contradictions:

While Avitan is suspected to be a spy, the Israeli claims that he was in Malaysia to resolve a dispute by locating and confronting a fellow Israeli.
