Malaysia and China Stronger Bonds

Higher Education Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir had a meeting with China’s Education Minister Huai Jinpeng in Putrajaya, on April 26, 2024.

Malaysia and China had a conversation about various strategic plans and activities to upgrade and strengthen cooperation in the higher education sector in conjunction with celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.

Higher Education Ministry ( MOHE ) said in an explanation the conversation was held between China’s Education Minister Huai Jinpengn and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir in Putrajaya.

The Statement

“The partners exchanged views on their nations’ advanced education  landscape and direction as well as possible vital participation, especially in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training  (TVET) field, in aspects, for example,  socio-cultural  and industrial collaboration for Malaysian students  including organizations led by Chinese firms including Huawei and Geely.” 

According to this statement, both the ministers agreed that cooperation in the relevant research sector that could be improved by establishing the national-level research centre for the two countries.

The discussion furthermore covers the support in advanced technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, computing, green technology, microchips and automotive, in addition to other things. They additionally supported strategic cooperation between higher education institutions in Malaysia and China in different science and innovation improvement programs, resource sharing, technical data, facilities, training research, and dialogues on civilisations.

The statement likewise said a signing of a notice of sorting out a Memorandum of understanding  (MoU) between the  Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) was likewise directed during the meeting.
