2.5 Million Followers Lost! Why Did Facebook Remove Malaysian Publication China Press’ Page?

The Facebook page of China Press, one of Malaysia’s most popular Chinese language publications, has suddenly vanished from the social media platform.

Searching for China Press on Facebook returned no results for the page. The publication’s page on the social media platform has more than 2.5 million followers, one of the largest subscribers on the Chinese language platforms in Malaysia.

When accessing the link to the China Press Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ChinaPressCP/), an error message was displayed stating that the content is currently not available. This error message is usually associated with the page being removed by the social media platform.

In fact, China Press itself confirmed on its website that its main handle had been removed from Facebook Monday afternoon.

Although the report does not indicate why the page was removed from Facebook, it appears that it allegedly violated the platform’s community guidelines.

Despite this setback, China Press stressed that it will continue to be at the forefront of news, without fear or favour.

The publication also urged readers to follow its second Facebook page, China Press Johor, for the latest updates.
