SINGAPORE — A 23-year-old motorcyclist died after he got trapped under a bus along Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on June 30th. The police were informed about the incident along Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) towards Woodlands Checkpoint at 2.10 pm.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) used hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate the motorcyclist, who was then transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for medical treatment
The motorcyclist was taken conscious to the hospital, where he subsequently died, the police added.
Police investigations are still ongoing.
Videos circulating on social media depict SCDF officers and bystanders attempting to assist the victim, who was pinned under the right side of the bus.

According to the reports, it is not a local bus. Traffic accidents in 2023 claimed the lives of 136 people, marking a 25.9 percent increase from the 108 deaths recorded in 2022.

Since 2016, the figure of 136 fatalities is the highest recorded, surpassing the previous peak of 141 deaths in a single year.
In the Traffic Police’s (TP) annual statistics report released on Feb 20, 2024, motorcyclists and pillion riders accounted for half of all road fatalities, while elderly pedestrians made up nearly 20 per cent.
