SINGAPORE: An elderly woman, Madam Aminah Abdul, age 74, was allegedly murdered by her husband, Ridawi Morsudin, 88, at Bukit Panjang flat on 6th June (Thursday). At the scene, police officers arrested Ridawi after finding the woman lying lifeless in a unit along Petir Road. Subsequently, paramedics declared her dead.
An 88-year-old, Ridawi was given one accusation of murdering his wife, Madam Aminah Abdul by stabbing her between 6:40 pm on Jun 4 and 12;58 am on Jun 5 in a third-storey flat at Block 137, Petir Road.
He appeared in court via video call from his place of custody, with grey and white hair, and seated in a wheelchair.
The prosecution requested the court to keep him in custody for a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he understands the seriousness of the offense he has committed and if he has any mental conditions that reduce his charged accusation.
The police said in a statement that they received a call for help from a unit along Petir Road in Bukit Panjang around 1 am on Wednesday.
The man will be charged in court on Thursday. If he was found guilty of the offense of murder, he may be sentenced to death.
