In a distressing accident, a crawler crane toppled over, crushing a van and causing significant disruption to traffic in Punggol, Singapore. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the van’s driver who got injured was taken to Sengkang General Hospital, while the crane operator was subsequently taken into custody.
Incident Details
The incident occurred at the junction of Punggol Road and Compassvale Street at about 4.55pm. The crane, while in operation, lost balance and fell sideways onto a passing van, injuring the 28-year-old male driver of the van.
Casualties and Response
In a statement, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that the 28-year-old male driver of the van was transported to Sengkang General Hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies apprehended the 49-year-old crane operator.
