Ongoing Investigation in Zayn’s Murder Case
A confession recorded under Section 26(1) of the Evidence Act 1950 while under police custody cannot be used against the person in court unless the statement is made in the presence of either a sessions court judge or a magistrate. On May 31, police arrested Zayn Rayyan’s parents and were taken into custody for seven days from June 1 regarding the 6-year-old Zyan’s murder investigation.
Later on Friday, the magistrates’ court allowed police to extend their remand for another six days until tomorrow. The extended remand period was required to investigate and confirm certain matters and inconsistencies within their systems, said Selangor police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
On Monday, Ismanira was brought back to Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai to recreate the events that happened before Zayn’s disappearance and the discovery of his body. Zayn Rayyan’s body was found along a river about 200m from his family’s home on December 6, last year.
