PETALING JAYA – A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage allegedly showing national player Faisal Halim being splashed with acid on May 5 has gone viral on social media.
Several social media accounts of national football fans uploaded the 56-second video, which has grabbed public attention.
The video shows a man in a black shirt and cap waiting behind a black car, observing Faisal as he walks towards his vehicle.
Ten seconds later, as Faisal is about to open the car door, the man repeatedly splashes acid on him before fleeing with another accomplice, who can be seen waiting on a motorcycle near the scene.
Faisal’s wife, Nur Syazwani Mizuana Shahril, who can be seen wearing a white headscarf was with Faisal during the incident. She was also reportedly injured due to the acid splashes.
The CCTV footage shows Nur Syazwani trying to chase the suspect on the motorcycle but fails and then asks for help from people around.

However, the authenticity of the video cannot be confirmed as there has been no further verification from the authorities.
According to media experts, the location in the viral video appears to depict the entrance of a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya where the incident took place.

Faisal received fourth-degree burns after being splashed with acid by an unknown individual.
The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on May 19 released a photofit of the suspect, believed to be in his 30s and about 165 centimeters tall.
Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, the Inspector-General of Police, said the suspect also has tanned skin and a medium build.
So far, police have questioned more than 12 individuals as part of the investigation into the case.
