Makkah: Three more Malaysian Hajj pilgrims have died in the Holy Land of Makkah, taking the death toll to eight.
Datuk Mohd Na’aim Mokhtar, a minister in the PM Office said the latest death of a female pilgrim is the eighth. She was under the Hajj pilgrimage operators and died at 4:30 pm on Saturday while on the way back to her accommodation.
“The late Sabina Jalil, 66, from Sg Buloh, Selangor, performed haj with a friend and died due to a heart attack,” he told the media after visiting the TH Treatment Centre in Mina last night.
The sixth and seventh pilgrims who passed away were 75-year-old Baharuddin Mohd Shood from Jengka, Pahang, and 65-year-old Abd Manaf Hanapiah from Alor Star, Kedah. They died on June 11 and 13, respectively.
While Baharuddin lost his life to intestinal cancer at the TH treatment centre, Abd Manaf died of a heart attack while he was being treated at the Makkah Medical Centre.
Meanwhile, Na’im said the patients treated at the Makkah treatment center are those who participated in the Wukuf Safari program on Saturday and were brought to Arafah by TH staff in a modified bus.
Most of them suffer from heart issues and health problems related to breathing difficulties.
The TH Treatment Center offers a total of 187 patient beds, equipped with medical tools, as well as X-ray services, emergency rooms, dentistry and laboratories. It also provides 17 ambulances serving 12 accommodation buildings for Malaysian pilgrims in Makkah.
