By-Election is a Four-Cornered Fight
The by-election is a four-cornered fight involving with Pang Sock Tao (Pakatan Harapan), Khairul Azhari Saut representing Perikatan Nasional, Hafizah Zainuddin representing Parti Rakyat Malaysia and Nyau Ke Xin running as an independent candidate.
Since all the candidates will not be voting as they are not registered voters in the constituency. They won’t be able to vote in the by-election.
In the state election last year in August, Lee defeated candidates from Perikatan Nasional, Parti Rakyat Malaysia and the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance; they won with a majority of 4,119 votes to retain the seat for the third consecutive term.
The seat became empty because the previous representative, Lee Kee Hiong of DAP, unfortunately, passed away on March 21 due to cancer.
