Hanif Omar, Malaysia’s Longest – Serving Former IGP Dies

Tun Mohammed Hanif Omar was the 4th Inspector-General of the Royal Malaysia Police at the age of 35, from June 1974 to January 1994. He was the longest-serving IGP of police for 20 years.

Hanif Omar, one year into his tenure as Inspector-General of the Royal Malaysia Police, established a special Actions Unit (UTK) on January 1, 1975, to counter the terrorism unit. That played a big role in rescuing hostages during the AIA building hostage cries in August.

Mohammed Hanif made an announcement on June 8, 1976. He mentioned that all the new police recruits would join the Police Field Force before going to any other unit. The Reason For His Death 

Today at 2:15 am, Hanif Omar died due to kidney disease. This news was given by his son, Adul Rahmat Omar, in a statement. For the funeral prayers, his father’s remains were taken to Bukit Aman Mosque, and then he was buried at Makam Pahlawan, near Masjid Negara, Kuala Lumpur.
