BENTONG: A fire broke out at the indoor theme park at Genting Highlands near Bentong on Friday. Several photos and footage of the fire with thick black fumes of smoke billowing into the sky went viral on social media.
According to Ismail Abdul Ghani, Pahang Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (operations), the fire broke out on the second floor of the theme park and later it spread to the fourth floor.
“The Genting Highlands fire station was alerted at about 4.55pm before the first fire engine arrived at the scene five minutes later.
“Sixteen firemen from the Genting Highlands fire station along with Janda Baik volunteer firefighters are trying to keep the fire under control,” he said, adding there were no updates if any victims were involved.
