Canadian actor Donald Sutherland passed away aged 88 after a “long illness”, his agent CAA confirmed to the PA news agency.
The actor who starred in movies like Ordinary People, M*A*S*H and Six Degrees of Separation, was the father of 24 TV star Kiefer Sutherland.

A statement from CAA said: “Acclaimed actor Donald Sutherland died today in Miami, Florida, after a long illness. He was 88 years old.”
Sutherland bagged a Golden Globe for ‘Path to War’, a television movie, and another Emmy Award for the mini-series ‘Citizen X.’
He received an Academy Honorary Award for his acting in 2017.
The actor’s recent roles included the ‘Hunger Games’ film franchise as dictator president Coriolanus Snow and the portrayal of a judge in the 2023 television show ‘Lawmen: Bass Reeves’.
