“Escape: Project Silence”—also known as “Escape”—the last movie starring the late Lee Sun-kyun, is about to come out. The narrative of survivors under dire circumstances is told in this film, emphasizing the close ties and love between family members. It assures viewers that it will move them to tears.

A press conference and media screening for “Escape” took place in Seoul’s CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall on July 8. Actors Ju Ji-hoon, Kim Hee-won, Park Hee-bon, and Kim Soo-an were among the guests at the event, directed by Kim Tae-gon.

Plot and Characters

“Escape” tells a suspenseful story of a chain collision in dense fog. On the edge of a bridge collapsing, survivors battle to escape from unruly military experiment dogs.

This movie is significant because it features Lee Sun-kyun‘s last performance as Jeong-won, an administrative officer stranded on a falling bridge. Director Kim talked on how much he wished Sun-kyun could have been there and how much he appreciated their joint efforts to improve the movie.

Jo-bak, a tow truck driver with a second job next to the bridge, is portrayed by Ju Ji-hoon. He was drawn to the characters’ relatability and the story’s rapid pace.

Ju Ji-hoon played around with a long haired, rugged appearance, appreciating the character’s versatility in fashion.

Dr. Yang, Project Silence’s principal researcher, is portrayed by Kim Hee-won. He was intrigued by the realistic plot and his important position.

Park Joo-hyun portrays Yoo-ra, a professional golfer, while Park Hee-bon plays Mi-ran, her sister and manager. She was excited by the challenge and wondered how the calamity was visualized.

Kyung-min, the rebellious adolescent daughter of Jeong-won who lost her mother two years ago, is portrayed by Kim Soo-an. She was thrilled with the script and the bravery of her character.

Set and Filming

More than 300 automobiles were employed to replicate the catastrophic collision scenario on Korea’s longest bridge. Ju Ji-hoon and the other actors were astounded by the realistic set, which made it easier for them to concentrate. They emphasized the immersive environment that enhanced the viewing experience.

The goal of director Kim, who is renowned for his creative and character-driven movies, was to make a distinctive catastrophe genre picture.

Last year, “Escape” screened at the 76th Cannes Film Festival’s Midnight Screening section. Kim said that having the film screened at Cannes was an honor and that more changes had been made to improve the picture’s emotional resonance and intensity.

The actors urged viewers to enjoy the movie. Ju Ji-hoon thought the film will be suspenseful and entertaining, while Kim Hee-won advised everyone to see it and enjoy it this summer. On July 12, “Escape” will be launched, delivering a thrilling and poignant experience.
