South Korean YouTuber Jina Kim is well-known for her thought-provoking videos on South Korea and her entertaining vlogs about everyday life. 

But she just revealed a very shocking anecdote from one of her followers in a video. In this scenario, a dramatic social media fraud was used to trick a fan’s wife into thinking she was speaking with well-known Korean actor Ji Chang Wook. The victim even requested a divorce in order to be with Wook.

The Story Unfolds 

On July 5, Jina Kim shared an unexpected story that a viewer from the UK—who we’ll call “John”—sent in. 

John revealed that his wife had abruptly requested a divorce from him after they had enjoyed a solid marriage for two years. Why her? She thought she was in social media touch with Ji Chang Wook, a well-known Korean actor.

Prominent within the Hallyu wave, Ji Chang Wook is well-known for his parts in dramas like as Empress Ki and Welcome to Samdal-ri. 

His attractiveness and notoriety have won him admirers all around the world. But in this instance, a con artist took advantage of his fame.

John informed Jina that his wife was posing as Ji Chang Wook in texts that she was receiving. The fact that all of these almost constant communications were in English raised even more questions. 

John’s wife was also requested for money by the phony Ji Chang Wook to launch a business. John’s spouse urged on getting a divorce in order for him to be with the fictitious actor, thinking these messages were real.

Desperate to find a solution, John called Jina Kim and asked her how to report the con artist to the Korean authorities. 

Jina pointed him in the direction of Ji Chang Wook’s agency in the hopes that they would act. Regrettably, John’s family was put through hardship when the agency failed to follow up.
