Gong Yoo, best known for his worldwide popular Korean Drama Goblin, is all set to make a special appearance in the upcoming star-studded movie titled ‘Wonderland.’ The film revolves around Wonderland, which offers people the opportunity to reunite with their ex through artificial intelligence (AI) video calls.
In addition to Gong Yoo, the cast also includes stars such as Tang Wei, Suzy, Park Bo Gum, Jung Yu Mi, and Choi Woo Shik, according to reports. Gong Yoo inspired director Kim Tae Yong and as a result, the character of AI Sung Joon was born.
Gong Yoo’s fans were ecstatic when they found out that he would be appearing in ‘Wonderland.’ He gave notable performances in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (also titled Goblin), Train to Busan, and Squid Game. Gong Yoo’s fans are quite excited for his guest appearance.
Sung Joon will see the emotional development progress of AI Bai Li, played by Tang Wei, who is introduced as an archaeologist created by the Wonderland service.
Talking about Gong Yoo’s role director Kim Tae Yong told Soompi, “Since he is an AI character that carries out the task of managing the AI within Wonderland while also being a friend, he needed to be both cool yet warm, and there was no other actor like Gong Yoo [for the role]. He is warmhearted and thoughtful, and he is an actor with romantic tension”.
‘Wonderland’ hits theaters on June 5.
