Park Seo Joon in Talks for Lead Role in ‘Waiting for Gyeongdo’

Popular romantic comedy dramas have featured Park Seo Joon in endearing lead roles. With a leading part in the upcoming drama Waiting for Gyeongdo (literal title), he is expected to make a comeback this time as the “king of on-screen romance.” 

There’s a lot of excitement because this project will also be the director of King the Land’s and Thirty-Nine’s first joint venture.

Park Seo Joon To Lead In New Drama 

The lead role in the upcoming romantic drama Waiting for Gyeongdo has been cast for Park Seo Joon, according to a report published on July 8 by TV Daily. It has been rumored that he will play Gyeongdo, the male lead character.

Screenwriter Yoo Young Ah, who has previously written hit movies like Miracle in Cell No. 7, Divorce Attorney Shin, Encounter, EXO’s D.O. starring My Annoying Brother, and the Son Ye Jin film Thirty-Nine, is joining him. There are currently talks about airing Waiting for Gyeongdo on the JTBC Network.

One of the most prominent performers in the Korean cinema and television industries right now is Park Seo Joon. 

Though he has gained recognition for his work in the romance genre, he has also dabbled in other genres as he has progressed through the years.

He made his professional debut in the entertainment industry in 2011 when he appeared in the music video for the song “I Remember” by Korean rapper Bang Yong Guk. 

Over the following several years, he progressively demonstrated his abilities by landing supporting parts in numerous well-known K-dramas, including Dream High 2 (2012), Pots of Gold (2013), and One Warm Word (2013).

He landed his first major part in the romantic comedy series A Witch’s Love (2014), costarring with Uhm Jung Hwa. But the film Kill Me, Heal Me, and She Was Pretty, which he starred in in 2015, was his big break. After the hits, he co-starred with Hwang Jung Eum in both dramas and rose to fame.

He gained international recognition as a mainstream Korean actor in the ensuing years, landing major parts in hit dramas and films such as Hwarang, Fight for My Way, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?, The Divine Fury, Itaewon Class, Gyeongseong Creature, and more.
