Jempol: FB Messenger Nightmare! Elderly Man Loses RM44,500 To Woman After Naked Video Call

Jempol: An elderly man’s introduction to an unknown foreign woman on Facebook Messenger turned into a nightmare when she threatened to share his naked videos. The man ended up losing RM44,500 to the suspect as he tried to stop her from spreading the video.

According to a report from Sinar Harian, Superintendent Hoo Chang Hook, the Jempol District Police Chief, said the victim is a government pensioner. On May 29, he met the suspect, who used the account name ‘Ayuni Seri’, on Facebook Messenger.

“The suspect then asked the victim for his phone number and started contacting him via WhatsApp to chat, using the phone number 62821-7910-6069. However, the victim ignored this. Then, on June 3 (Monday), the suspect contacted the victim thought a video call while naked,” he said.

The suspect asked the pensioner to undress, after which he removed his pants and showed her his private parts.

“The video call lasted about a minute and after that, the suspect sent the video to the victim. Out of fear of the video being revealed, the victim deleted the video,” he added.

However, the next day, the victim again received the same video from the suspect and demanded a payment of 15 million Rupiah (RM4,315.25) to delete the video from her end.

The victim said the woman also threatened to distribute the video to her family and acquaintances if he did not give her the money.

“The victim tried to negotiate and the suspect asked him to make a payment of RM2,000. On the following day until June 7, the victim was threatened by the suspect and he made 5 transactions to 3 different accounts, totalling in RM42,500 through remittance,” Chang Hook explained.

Despite making 5 transactions, the woman continued to threaten the victim, asking him to deposit RM58,500 to settle the matter once and for all.

However, he told the suspect there was no more money and ignored further messages from the unknown woman until he finally filed a police report on June 15.

“Further investigations are still being carried out and the case is being investigated according to Section 384 of the Penal Code.”
