SINGAPORE: A fire broke out in a Housing Board block in Bedok North flat on the seventh floor on 6th June, Thursday Night, leading to the evacuation of about 100 residents. The fire started breaking out in an apartment, which involved the contents of a bedroom, and was later extinguished with a water jet.
On Friday, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) posted on Facebook that they were informed about the incident at Block 541 Bedok North Street 3 around 10:10 pm.
SCDF said no one was inside the flat when the fire broke out so, there were no reported injuries.
“As a result of the fire, the entire bedroom was damaged and the rest of the affected unit sustained heat and soot damage,” said SCDF.
Safety Precautions Taken by Firefighters
Firefighters from Paya Lebar and Changi fire stations arrived to find a seventh-floor apartment on fire and forced their way into the smoke-logged flat, to battle the flames.
As a precautionary measure, SCDF and the police evacuated about 100 residents from the affected block. There were no reported injuries, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
