The Ministry of Higher Education shared its planning to have a meeting with the Australian government soon The purpose of the meeting is to discuss Australia’s latest policy on student visas. They move to raise the amount of savings international students need to get a visa.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, said he would personally meet with his Australian counterpart to find out the country’s current policy on student visas.
“We want to know whether the policy involves all countries or just specific ones. That’s why the first step is to discuss with the Australian authorities,” he mentioned after officiating the unveiling launch of the new logo for Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Specialist Centre (UKMSC) here today.
Zambry also mentioned that when it comes to student visas, this issue also involves the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN). So, it’s not just the higher education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir but also the Ministry of Home Affairs involved in this.
Zambry said we must work together with KDN to obtain a response from the Australian government regarding the matter.
International media reports, Australia has also issued warnings to some educational institutions about fraudulent practices in student recruitment. This is a part of efforts of their efforts to crack down on migration.
