Funerals for the 10 Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) heroes who sacrificed their lives in the helicopter tragedy in Lumut on Tuesday. 

This incident occurred at the Lumut naval base in the western state of Perak at 9:32 a.m. local time.

The funeral ceremony finished today around midday. The final two victims, Lieutenant T. Sivasutan and Able Seaman 1 JJM Joanna Felicia Rohna had their last rites performed.

They said that the funeral ceremonies were managed with full military honours, along with an RMN guard possible for a final salute.

The statement: “The Royal Malaysian Navy Headquarters once again extends condolences to the families of the 10 RMN heroes involved in this tragedy. Their loss is deeply felt by the entire Navy staff and the Malaysian Armed Forces.”

The Defence minister, Mohamed Khaled Nordin, gave the statement that a maritime operations helicopter and a Fennec military helicopter were rehearsing for a parade celebrating the 90th anniversary of RMN that was held on Saturday.

Tribute to the RMN heroes

In addition, it brings the banners down that were observed yesterday (April 24) and closed immediately after the burial ceremony today.

 Sivasutan and Joanna Felicia were among the 10 faculty who were killed when two helicopters went flying past rehearsals for the Royal Malaysian Navy parade.

Recently, eight out of the 10 team crew members, who were Muslims, were let go in their respective hometowns with full Royal Malaysian Navy military honours as a last recognition.

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim posted on X and delivered his message, that “the nation mourns the heart-wrenching tragedy.”

 He said, “Condolences to all the families of the victims and prayers for strength to face this calamity.”
