Acid attack: Faisal Halim and Harimau Malaya enter reconstructive phase of treatment

Selangor FC Sports Medicine head, today revealed that Harimau Malaya and Selangor FC wing wizard Faisal Halim, who was attacked with acid on May 5 will require stringent treatment to avoid any complications. Dr Muhammad Hazwan Khair said the footballer is in the reconstructive phase after undergoing two surgeries earlier.

In a statement, he said, “As we know, his injuries are very serious but, after the second operation, we can see the recuperation process is coming along as planned. In the reconstructive phase, the protocol is stricter. We will limit visitation to minimise any contacts and complications.”

Series of Alarming Attacks on National Football Players

He further revealed that the player is strictly on a high protein diet to help with his rehabilitation. This comes after the Penang-born footballer suffered fourth-degree burns after being attacked with acid. The incident took place at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya.

This was the second attack incident on a national player. Earlier, Terengganu FC player Muhammad Akhyar Abdul Rashid was attacked by two robbers at his residence in Kuala Terengganu on May 2. He suffered from head and leg injuries due to this attack.

In another bizzare incident, two men on a motorcycle attacked another national football player with a hammer. The attackers broke the rear windscreen of Johor Darul Ta’zin player Safiq Rahim’s car in Johor Bahru on May 7.

The series of attacks on the national players, have alarmingly increased jolting the local football fraternity.
